Writing Support for Scholarship and Graduate School Application Statements
As a student at Labouré who is preparing one or more applications, you are eligible for a special writing support service, where a writing coach will work with you to improve your application statements for scholarships or graduate school. Appointments are conducted online on Zoom, so you and the coach can look at the paper together at the same time via the "Share Screen" feature. Though coaches will not directly edit your application statement for you, they can help you identify errors of grammar or syntax, improve flow and overall structure, and better express your ideas. You are free to take advantage of this service at any time in the process. Below are several videos on how to apply for a scholarship. At the bottom of this page are external scholarships for nursing students.
- Summary: 11 min. The video offers good basic info and warnings on applying for a scholarship, but is geared to the traditional prospective student's parent. 2. Summary: 9 min. The video is specific to Nursing at all levels, but focused more on a traditional student. Discussed the Scholarship System App, which gives dates and requirements. 3. Summary: 19 min. Nurse MJ is animated and geared to nursing only. Unfortunately, her focus is UK. She has a list of scholarship sites in the video that are helpful
4. Summary: 6 min. Nurse from Emory University. Gave HPSP focus on VA or military 2-year commitment, but very good scholarship!; Nurse Corps scholarship commitment for 1-2 years in a listed high-need area. I really liked her look and approach!
